CEDAR CITY — Orchestra of Southern Utah’s “20th Century Favorites” explores a wide variety of styles and genres. The recital begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Tuesday. The suggested donation is $5, and the performers are graciously donating their time to benefit the orchestra. Suzanne Tegland will direct this recital.
“Wilhelm” will play a selection of Gypsy jazz favorites along with some beloved standards. OSU violinist Heather Wilhelm will play alongside Ryan Durfee, Olivia Rylan and Mason Cottam. Their style is influenced by jazz violinists such as Stéphane Grappelli.
OSU violinist Clark Leslie will perform utilizing both the 6-string and 12-string guitar. He has chosen Gordon Lightfoot songs including “If You Could Read My Mind.”
David Bolsover and Christian Bohnenstengel will present saxophone and piano music from a variety of composers. Both performers are equally at home in a wide range of musical genres ranging from jazz to classical. They have chosen pieces by Jobim, Brubeck and Morgan for the recital.
Candice Behrmann will play the popular “Carmen Fantasy,” arranged for flute accompanied by Caroline Jennings. Behrmann currently teaches flute and music courses at Dixie State College. She is also a musician for the Utah Shakespeare Festival.

Sept. 1 with the Fall Recital Series, and full symphony concerts start Oct. 8. Recitals continue each Tuesday in September.
