ST. GEORGE – Southern Utahns may have seen some unusual lights and heard booms over St. George Tuesday night, but there’s no reason for alarm. The action was in celebration of DOCUTAH’s gala screening of “Flying the Feathered Edge: The Bob Hoover Project.”
Strobe lights beamed into the sky and fireworks blasted off from the former St. George Airport site on the Black Hill. The fireworks were courtesy of the City of St. George, DOCUTAH Public Relations and Marketing Director Della Lowe said.
“It was just great fun,” she said. “Very large crowd.”
“DOCUTAH’s all grown up,” Lowe added. “We’re all grown up and we’re going Hollywood.”

Waste spenders who complain about “the liberals” and their spending.
Exactly. How much did this cost the city?
The city council needs to learn what government is for. Then let the private sector do the rest. Hypocrites.
They complain about state and federal governments overstepping their proper roles, and St. George government contradicts their own proper roles for spending — among other things they do to control the area and prevent competition (free market), etc. etc.
Wake up people of southern Utah.
On a school night? It would have been better to have it Saturday night at the conclusion of Docutah.
It doesn’t cost the city anything. The tax payers paid for it. the city council doesn’t care. it’s your money their spending.
I’m sure the city paid for them which is one problem but the other is why? This town is nuts over fireworks. Never lived in an area where large aerial fireworks displays was so commonplace. If we had a major league baseball team they could shoot em off after every homerun.
I would have to laugh at the name of the pro baseball team in Utah. the triple A team are the Bees. I bet they would call the pro team. The Honeybees.! LO.!
