SCENIC, Ariz. – A teenager was airlifted to the hospital and a man was arrested following a single-vehicle rollover in Scenic, Arizona, Sunday afternoon.
At about 3:46 p.m. MST, Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident on Lime Kiln Canyon Road in Scenic, which is east of Mesquite, Nevada, on the Arizona Strip. (See ed. note)
Investigations into the crash determined that the driver of the vehicle, Matthew Hughes, 28, of Mesquite, lost control of his vehicle and rolled it, according to a press release from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office
There were five people inside the vehicle. One of them, a 17-year-old girl from Mesquite, was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas following the crash. She was taken to the hospital for observation with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the press release.
Hughes was arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. He was transported and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
Ed. note: Correction made regarding Scenic’s proximity to Mesquite.

Scenic, AZ, is EAST of Mesquite, not west.
You are right, Big Guy. We will make that correction.
I’m just glad that the injuries are not life threatening. The driver isn’t going to have a nice time of things for awhile I’m sure.
