HURRICANE – A person was found dead, Thursday, in a semitruck that had gone over the edge of Hurricane Hill off state Route 59 near the Hurricane Hill Trailhead sometime during the past five days.
Hurricane City Police located the semi after they were dispatched at 10:41 a.m. Although police have determined the truck and driver left a particular area Saturday, they have not yet determined where he was headed or when the truck went over the hill.
“Somebody called in and says that there’s a truck down there,” Hurricane City Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said, “so somebody located it, but I don’t have any information on who it was.”
Police confirmed one person dead in the truck.
“We have confirmed that there is a fatality that’s down there,” Buell said. “I don’t know if anybody else was in the truck, if he was by himself, we’ve only found one deceased person.”
A high-angle ropes team was initially called out to assist in the recovery but later called off as responders determined to remove the wreckage from below the crash scene.
Hurricane City Police and Hurricane Valley Fire departments as well as Washington County Search and Rescue crews responded to the incident.
Updated 1:30 p.m. There was no trailer attached to the semi. The crash involved the cab only, Buell said at about 2:15 p.m.
This is a developing story.

great story.
how horrible that poor family! i hope maybe it can be a standard for officers to maybe check those crags once a day.. i always worried about someone going over and not being found for a while. then again there would be alot of cliffs to check its kind of the draw of the area..
