ST. GEORGE — A failure-to-yield accident Friday afternoon next to Southgate Golf Course in St. George impacted three vehicles, leaving two of them significantly damaged.
At about 2 p.m., a landscaping truck was traveling east on Dixie Drive waiting to turn onto Black Ridge Drive. A blue SUV was headed west on Dixie Drive.
“The light changed to yellow,” St. George Police Officer Tyrell Bangerter said, “and the pickup assumed that the SUV was going to stop.”
The pickup turned in front of the SUV, causing the SUV to strike the truck on the right rear side, spinning the truck around.
Items in the truck bed were loose, came out and hit a car waiting to turn onto Dixie Drive, though that car did not sustain any serious damage.
All involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, Bangerter said. The driver of the SUV complained of neck pain following the collision but refused ambulance transport to the hospital.
Both the SUV and the pickup truck sustained moderate to major damage and had to be towed from the scene.
The pickup driver was cited for failure to yield.
Units from the St. George Police Department, St. George Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Oh wow another professional opinion by CALIHAG… absolutely brilliant
Why yes I am brilliant. Too bad you’re an idiot.
Wow another brilliant commentary from CALIHAG. Too bad you’re an idiot.!
Used to be yellow meant ‘ light changing , slow down to a stop ‘ .
Now it means ‘light changing , floor it & rush through the light ‘ .
Given that so many people are amped up ,
I NEVER expect the old civil ways ,
Especially since I see so many that end up as red light runners .
People are way more crazy now than they were just a few decades ago .
