ST. GEORGE – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 700 South and River Road in St. George Tuesday morning resulted in minor injuries and a citation for failure to yield.
Around 6:55 a.m., a 16-year-old boy was traveling north on River Road and attempting to make a left turn onto 700 South, St. George Police Sgt. Craig Harding. However, the boy didn’t notice that the green arrow he had changed to a yellow light and then went away.
As the boy was turning, a man traveling south in a truck on River Road smashed into the 16-year-old’s truck.
Minor injuries were reported by two men in the southbound truck.
“There’s some bumps and bruises,” Harding said, “and there’s going to be a couple people who go over and just get checked out (at the hospital).”
Both trucks were rendered inoperable and had to be towed from the scene.
The 16-year-old boy was issued a citation for failure to yield on a left turn.
St. George Police, St. George Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the collision.

Nobody drives defensively around this place. So a kid makes a bad turn – not good. But any driver with his eyes where they should be would not be slamming into the kid. He might bump him or have to swerve to miss him, but a defensive (good) driver in the other vehicle would not be smashing into anybody.
It’s as if vehicles around this area have only one pedal – the gas pedal – and nothing to slow a vehicle down or stop it. I begin to wonder if it’s just that Donald Trump attitude of – “get the hell off my road.” The number of accidents around St. George sure make it feel that way.
