FREDONIA, Ariz. — The Burnt Complex fire reached 3,443 acres Tuesday on the North Kaibab Ranger District. Fire crews will continue to monitor the fire’s perimeter edge Wednesday as the wildfire slowly progresses toward the established southern perimeter boundary over the coming days.
The Burnt Complex, which is made up of the Burnt Fire, discovered July 5, and the Corral Fire, discovered July 9, was started by lightning.
Local weather for the Kaibab Plateau calls for mostly dry conditions through Wednesday with moisture beginning to move back into the area on Thursday.
The established 3,915-acre planning area is bound by Forest Service Road 228 on the north, FSR 274 on the south and west and FSR 22 on the east.
Smoke was visible Tuesday but minimal throughout portions of the district near the planning area.
Currently no road or trail closures are in effect or anticipated; however, hazard signs are posted and motorists should exercise caution when around traveling near the planning area boundary.
