CEDAR CITY — The Bureau of Land Management Utah Cedar City Field Office is seeking public comment on Enel Cove Fort LLC’s proposal to drill geothermal wells on federal lands. The proposal includes testing and potential production of up to six wells, with supporting delivery pipelines and access roads on BLM and U.S. Forest Service lands in Millard and Beaver counties.
The BLM, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, prepared an environmental assessment that is available online for public review and comment.
Written comments will be accepted by letter or email until Aug. 25. Please note that the most useful comments are those that contain new technical or scientific information relevant to the proposed action. Comments should be as specific as possible.
Comments that contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response but may be considered in the BLM decision process. Please reference “Cove Fort Geothermal” when submitting comments.

Geothermal is a no-brainer. Drill early, drill often. I think I’m one of 3 conservatives opposed to fracking, but I don’t think it’s all it’s cracked up to be. Same with mountain-top-removal mining, which has destroyed West Virginia. But geothermal is great.
