ST. GEORGE – A person is confirmed dead late Sunday night despite emergency responders’ efforts to resuscitate him after he was found unresponsive, lying on a sidewalk near Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George.
The man, in his 70s, was discovered not breathing and without a pulse, as he lay bleeding from his face on the 2000 West block of Versailles Court around 11:08 p.m.
“A family was coming home, seen a gentleman lying off to the side of the road on the sidewalk,” St. George Police Sgt. Tyler Cowan said. “The gentleman exited his vehicle, rolled the victim over and checked him for a pulse, (and he) didn’t feel a pulse.”
As authorities and medical personnel arrived on scene, CPR was started on the man, and continued for approximately 20 minutes, Cowan said.
However, CPR efforts proved unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
“The family that originally found him says that they’ve seen him out walking in the neighborhood,” Cowan said, “(and) believes he lives nearby.”
However, pending identification of the victim and notification of next of kin, police have not released any other information about the man’s identity as this report is published.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
