‘Plein Air,’ ‘Festival of Flavors’ events offer art demos, tastings, kids activities

CEDAR CITY — Cedar Breaks National Monument invites all to participate in the inaugural “Plein Air” event, taking place Tuesday through Saturday at the national monument.

Forty percent of the event’s proceeds will benefit youth programs through the Zion National Park Foundation.

Art demonstrations

Local artists J. Brad Holt, Mary Jabens and Valerie Orlemann have been chosen to paint in Cedar Breaks National Monument and the Brian Head area throughout July.

The artists will demonstrate their processes and answer questions Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-noon. Orlemann will demonstrate Tuesday, Holt on Wednesday and Jabens on Thursday. The demonstrations will be given at Point Supreme, adjacent to the Cedar Breaks visitors center.

Art created during the plein air event will be available for sale at the “Festival of Flavors,” Friday and Saturday at Giant Steps Lodge in Brian Head.
