2 sent to hospital after Main Street crash

ST. GEORGE — Two women were sent to the hospital Wednesday after a car allegedly ran through a stop sign at the intersection of 300 South and Main Street in St. George, resulting in a two-vehicle crash.

Around 2 p.m., a Honda Accord collided with a Toyota Scion at the intersection after the driver of the Honda allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, St. George Police Officer Lona Trombley said.

The collision left both cars inoperable and resulted in the drivers of both cars, described as women in their mid-50s, being taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Trombley was unable to confirm the extent of any injuries.

Both women were the sole occupants of their cars when the collision occurred.

The driver of the Honda was issued a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign. Both cars were towed from the scene.

Area residents who observed the crash said accidents are frequent at that intersection.

St. George Police, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

It does seem there are lots of accidents at that intersection. How about the guy who had a dashcam going? The city should paint STOP on 300 South. City officials (and police) need to camp out and check out the situation.
