SOUTHERN UTAH – From thunderstorms and lightning strikes to downpours and flooding, it’s been a wild Saturday in Southern Utah.

Update 6:40 p.m.: In the area between the Virgin River Gorge and Mesquite, Nevada, dozens of passenger and commercial vehicles were pulled over because the rain reduced visibility to just a couple of feet, Arizona Department of Public Safety Sgt. John Bottoms said. There were no accidents or disabled vehicles reported during that time to the Arizona DPS, he said.

There was also a lot of wind that kicked up a dust storm, but Bottoms said the area in the Gorge was pretty clear of dust.

Update 6:35 p.m.: Lightning strikes have been reported across Southern Utah hitting several trees. Color Country Interagency Fire Management responded to the strikes with air attack.
