ST. GEORGE — Two vehicles collided in front of the Summit Athletic Club in St. George Thursday morning, leaving one car totaled but resulting in what were reported to be only minor injuries.
St. George Police Officer Jamison Hale said a white pickup truck was driving west on 1450 South Street and turning into the athletic club’s parking lot. At the same time, a tan Mazda was eastbound on the same street as the truck turned in front of it, colliding with the Mazda.
The right front end of the truck hit the left front end of the Mazda, severely damaging the Mazda’s front end. The Mazda was totaled, Hale said, while the truck sustained moderate damage to the right front end, but enough to make it unable to be driven. Both vehicles were towed away.
Airbags in both vehicles went off.
There were minor injuries suffered in the crash, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said.
“The female driver of the truck complained of shoulder pain due to the seat belt and air bag, ” he said. “The Mazda driver also complained of shoulder pain, as well, and had a small cut on her arm.”
Both drivers were checked out by Gold Cross Ambulance personnel and treated. No one was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the truck was cited for failure to yield.
Responding were St. George Police, Gold Cross Ambulance and St. George Fire crews. One lane of 1450 South Street was blocked for about 45 minutes while the accident was investigated and cleaned up.
