ST. GEORGE — Music, marching bands, equestrian groups, and floats filled Tabernacle Street in St. George for the city’s annual Fourth of July parade Saturday morning, themed “American Heroes – A Tribute to Our Troops.”
The parade started at 8:00 a.m. at 200 West and Tabernacle Street, turned onto 400 East and ended at Vernon Worthen Park.
Many local groups participated with local merchants riding alongside civic leaders and parade royalty from St. George, Washington City and Ivins.
Events continue throughout the day at Vernon Worthen Park, 175 East 200 North in St. George and then continue at the Dixie SunBowl, 150 South 400 East at 6 p.m. with free barbecue – the first 1,000 people will get a free hot dog, first come, first served – and a variety of fun and games with each of the Canyon Media radio stations.
At 8 p.m. Wolf Creek will take to the SunBowl stage with a free concert.
It all culminates with a spectacular annual fireworks show at 10 p.m.
No matter where you are in the city, turn your eyes to the sky over downtown St. George’s natural theater, smartly choreographed to a marriage of music and patriotic narration you can hear broadcasting live over 99.9 KONY FM radio.
