CEDAR CITY — The action was hot at the Utah Summer Games Friday and for good reason, with temperatures soaring into the high 90s.

But the rising thermometer didn’t deter competitors from across the state from going for the gold in their chosen sports, including track and field, table tennis and 3-on-3 soccer.

Hundreds of track and field athletes braved the heat to compete for gold at Eccles Coliseum, while dozens participated in the table tennis event at Cedar Middle School and more than 40 teams played in the individual age brackets to try and get gold in 3-on-3 soccer, which is played on a smaller field, with smaller goals and no goalkeepers.
