ST. GEORGE — A group of motorcycle tourists from France spending the night in St. George were delayed Thursday evening when a car ran into the back of one of the motorcycles as they were trying to turn onto 500 West from North Bluff Street.
St. George Police Officer Jamison Hale said the motorcycles were in the through-lane on Bluff Street but decided they wanted to turn left. When the light changed, they inched to the left and had to stop, as cars were coming. That’s when a red Saturn inched forward and bumped into the back of one of the motorcycles, Hale said.
A woman on the back of that motorcycle fell off and was taken by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George to be checked out.
The motorcycle had a bent fender and the Saturn lost its front license plate. No other damage was reported. The driver of the Saturn was cited for an unsafe move from a stopped position.
The French group was a motorcycle club touring the western United States.
