MESQUITE, Nev. – A woman killed in a single-vehicle rollover near Mesquite, Nevada, Saturday morning has been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Ciara Jackson, 18, of Cedar City, has been identified as the driver of a white pickup truck that rolled on Interstate 15 just south of Mesquite Saturday morning.
Just before 8:30 a.m. PDT, the truck was traveling southbound on I-15 near mile marker 120 when the truck experienced rear tire failure and began leaving the roadway, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.
Jackson, the driver, overcorrected, which caused the truck to rotate and then overturn off the right side of the roadway.
Jackson was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, Stuenkel said. She was killed in the accident.
The passenger in the truck, a 19-year-old man, was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. He was taken by ambulance to Mesa View Regional Hospital in Mesquite with injuries that were not life-threatening, Stuenkel said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
