The event centered its fundraising efforts around stage 4 cancer patient and beloved community member Lynette Beck.

“We’re just here to support her,” event attendee Shirley Keane, said. “The Becks have been around for a long time … and just to see so many people out, I’m just so grateful to support Lynette.”

The 1K and 5K races kicked off at 5:30 p.m., from which all registration funds were donated to the Beck family. Lynette Beck’s daughter Brooklynn Beck expressed gratitude for the overwhelming community support that was witnessed at the event.

“I’m very appreciative of all of this and just everybody coming together,” Brooklynn Beck said.

A few businesses that donated to the event were Red Mountain Spa, Sportsman’s Warehouse, and IBB Cyclery and Multisport, among others.

Capt. Rich Rodgers of the Santa Clara-Ivins Police Department, who had a hand in putting the event together, said he hopes nights like these will help public safety members get to know their city better.

“I’d like to do this twice a year,” Rodgers said. “Our police department serves both Santa Clara and Ivins, and so I’d like to do one a year in Santa Clara and one a year in Ivins.”
