The everyman champion; St. George News Video / Photo tribute to Ironman 70.3 StG 2015

ST. GEORGE – We’ve admired the swim, lauded the pros and been awed by first finishers of Ironman 70.3 St. George North American Pro Championship; but there is more to be recognized.

The everyman Ironman fills the region, persists for the first time, second time or last time, garners the support of friends and family, races for causes personal and more broad and will speak of this day for years to come. Each has their own story, more than we can tell, and we give them tribute.

They are, after all, champions each in their own way: those who compete and those handing out waters, those tending to scraped knees and perhaps a broken wheel, those clanging bells and those fixated on smartphones – each one tracking one very special competitor. You know if you’re watching, it’s about them, each and every one of them.

It’s about the St. George community as a whole, throwing its heart into a warm welcome to people from at least 23 countries who came to plant their feet for a time on Southern Utah’s rich red soil.

And it’s about reunions, as some faces become more and more familiar returning from prior years – remember “Fireman Bob“?  He’s back.

Ironman 70.3 St. George is about all these things.  And St. George News shot video, and shot photos, from Sand Hollow to Town Square.

Now it’s time for you to find your Ironman!
