WASHINGTON CITY — Washington City has packed the week with races, festivals, a parade and more for the Cotton Days beginning Saturday and continuing through May 8. Events include a 5K, mayor’s walk, two pancake breakfasts, a tractor pull, car show, festival, rodeo, barrel racing, movie in the park, swing dancing, ice cream, golf and softball tournaments and family swim night.
Cotton Days 5K, Mayor’s Walk
Kicking off the celebratory events is a 5K and Mayor’s Walk on Saturday at 7 a.m. for the 5K and 7:30 a.m. for the Mayor’s Walk. Both events start and finish on Main Street between the museum and Old Nisson Food Town. Race shirts for the 5K are included in the $15 race fee and registration is available online. Registration for the Mayor’s Walk is free. Packet pick up will be Friday, at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washington Community Center, 350 N Community Center Drive, Washington City.

Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast
A delicious breakfast of ham, eggs and pancakes will be at Veterans Park on Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday prepared by the Washington City Lions Club. Mayor Kenny Neilson may even serve you personally. See the Veterans Park map for directions.
Cotton Days Parade
A family favorite is the Cotton Days Parade on Saturday at 9 a.m., traveling on Telegraph from 300 East to 100 West. Parade vendor forms are available online. See the Telegraph Street map for directions. Vendor application and parade entry forms are available online.
Cotton Days Car Show, Tractor Pull
On Saturday at 10 a.m., the Cotton Days Car Show will feature new, classic and vintage automobiles. This event is free and will be held at Nisson Park.
Following the car show at 11 a.m. will be the Cotton Days Tractor Pull, also at Old Nisson Food Town. Join many for a rip-roaring good time. This event is free to the public to attend. Meet in the old Nisson’s Foodtown parking lot, and watch while these amazing antique tractors put on a great show. For more information, call Rosie Kirkland at 435-862-6212.
Cotton Days Festival
If you like vendors, food, bounce houses, games and even a foam slip-n-slide, the event for you is the Cotton Days Festival. Veteran’s Park will house the festival on Saturday at 10 a.m. to celebrate Washington City heritage.
Cotton Days Family Softball Game
Come join family and friends at the Cotton Days Family Softball Tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Washington ball fields. Sign up as a team or individually and you will be placed on a team. There is no registration fee. For more information, contact Mike Jensen 435-229-9563.
Cotton Days Movie in the Park
Finishing up the day on Saturday at 8 p.m. is a movie in Veteran’s Park hosted by the Washington City Chamber of Commerce. Admission is free and there will be free popcorn while supplies last. Vendor booths and various activities will be provided.
Fireside at Historical Museum
Sunday will feature a fireside at the Historical Museum at 6 p.m. Historic photographs of Washington City heritage will be presented by the Washington City Historic Society. For more information, contact Sherrie Reeder at 435-229-5239.
Cotton Days Second Grade Field Trips
Local second grade students will get the chance to learn about Washington City’s history on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Veteran’s Park. They will learn about clothing, textile making, planting of crops, antique tractors and machinery, the first settlers and their modes of transportation. This is a great morning for all the youth of Washington County School District. This is a free event in conjunction with Color Country Antique Machinery Association, the Washington Historical Society, and Washington City. Washington City Community Center Family Swim Night
As part of the Washington City Cotton Days week-long celebration the Washington City Community Center will host family swim night. There will be activities for the whole family including: water roller balls, foam, live entertainment from the Rok Dox and Red Rock swing dancers, light refreshments and great discounts for annual memberships. The evening is free for Washington Community Center members and Washington City residents and $1 for visitors.
Ice Cream Social Historical Society
Enjoy an ice cream social and wagon rides to historical sites such as the Covington Home, Adair Springs, and Cotton Mill on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Historical Museum. Contact George Staheli at 435-673-3085 for more information.
Cotton Days Barrel Racing
On Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Millcreek Ranch there will be a free barrel racing event. The Washington County Barrel Racing Association invites all to join for a goat tail pull, open 2D poles and 4D poles. Registration is available online. Cotton Days Jr. Rodeo
The junior rodeo is on April 30 at 5 p.m., also at Millcreek Ranch. Register online as a participant. Tickets to the rodeo are $5 per person or $20 for a family of six. The audience may participate in the bunny chase, chicken chase, boot contest and more.
Spring Swing Dance
Learn to swing dance and show off your moves at the Spring Swing Dance on May 1 at 7 p.m. in the Washington City Community Center Reception Hall. From 7-8 p.m. take part in a free beginner lesson and spend the rest of the night dancing away with your partner and friends. All ages are welcome. This event is free to community center members and $3 to other participants.
Ironman Breakfast
A free pancake breakfast is served on May 2, at 8 a.m. as the community cheers on the local Ironman athletes along Buena Vista and Main Street. See the corner of Buena Vista and Main Street map for directions.
Cotton Days Golf Tournament
Rounding off events is the Cotton Days Golf Tournament on May 8, at 9 a.m. at Green Spring Golf Course.
The fun begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start, in a three-man scramble. Cost is $125 per person for a two-day tournament. Call the Pro Shop at 435-673-7888 to register your team.
