WASHINGTON CITY — Traffic was backed up for miles on Interstate 15 Monday night due to bridge work at Exit 10, the Green Springs Drive exit, in Washington City. One lane will remain closed in either direction throughout the night, and a second closure will take place Tuesday night.

Todd Abbott, of the Utah Department of Transportation, said crews are working to seal bridges against rot and decay.

“They’re coming back in, applying an epoxy sealer to the concrete,” Abbott said. “What that does, the sealer will be absorbed by the concrete structure and it’ll get everything sealed up and prevent any type of foreign material, like salt, from getting down into the concrete and start the process of decay.”

The affected lanes will remain closed until approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday, with one lane in either direction remaining open.

Tuesday night, the same process will be repeated, with work being done on the lanes that were left open Monday night.

Tuesday night’s lane closures are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m and will continue until 7 a.m. Wednesday.
