Vehicle with 5 occupants rolls off roadway; driver cited for careless driving

HURRICANE — Police cited a man for careless driving Sunday after the vehicle he was driving, with four passengers, rolled during the early morning hours in Hurricane.

At around 3:30 a.m., an 18-year-old male, driving a 2008 Dodge Avenger, was traveling on a dirt road near 3400 S. Pecan Road at a high-rate of speed, Hurricane City Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said, when he failed to negotiate a turn and the vehicle rolled onto its side.

The 18-year-old had four female passengers in the vehicle with him at the time of the collision, Buell said. However, no injuries were reported.

Buell said he did not know whether or not the five occupants of the Dodge were wearing seat belts when the vehicle rolled.

The Dodge was towed from the scene, he said.

The driver of the Dodge was issued a citation for careless driving as well as driving with an expired license, Buell said.

Several of the passengers called their parents, Buell said, who picked them up before the investigation was complete and officers are still trying to contact those girls to get more information.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

18 year old and his license already expired? Hmmm. Regardless, glad no one was injured in the accident. Probably got an earful when they got picked up by daddy.
