ST. GEORGE — The 36th annual St. George Art Festival began Friday morning and continues through Saturday, offering food vendors, local entertainment and more than 100 local and nationally known artists. The free event is held in the Town Square at 50 S. Main Street in St. George.
Artist Lisa Huber brought her collection of tree paintings to display at the festival. This is Huber’s second year showing her artwork at the festival, and she said she loves the setting and variety of art that is displayed at the festival.
Lil Barron, of the St. George Chamber of Commerce Dixie Sunshiners, worked the information booth, and said the festival is a great event for spectators.
“It’s been an amazing project that has gone from this tiny thing in the street to this huge thing that it has now become,” Barron said. “There is so much to do here and we have such great artists that have come in from all over the country.”
Some of the entertainment on the two stages of the festival Friday included the Snow Canyon Middle School Jazz Band, Desert Hills Middle School Jazz Band, All American Cloggers, Fossil Fusion Show Choir, New Horizons Band, Southern Utah Stars, Dakota Nights, Sunday Best, Jim Sevy Quintet and Santa Clara Friends Jazz.
Entertainment scheduled for Saturday include 16 different bands including Wooden Tantrum, Red Sand Bluegrass Band, DSU Faculty Jazz Band, West Coast Jazz, The Five Strings, Mic Jones Tribute, Neil Diamond Tribute and many others.
Food Vendors range from Rollin West BBQ, The Crépe Station, Utah Corn Roasters, Twisted Dragon Concessions, Keltner Concessions, Funnel Cake, Daisy’s Delights Catering, Bombay Café and more.
Stacia Klingonsmith from Kaysville, said she came to St. George to visit her family and they came to the festival to have caricatures of her kids drawn. Her daughter, Olivia, 6, and son Bowie, 4, were drawn by Oklahoma City artist Patrick Riley.
