Darryl Joseph Barney passed away at home in the loving arms of his family on March 15, 2015. He was born May 20, 1949, in Cedar City, Utah, to Irvin and Lula Morgan Barney (Jones). He married Wendy Rasmussen (Barney) on April 19, 1974, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As a child he was raised in Virgin, Utah, and later moved to Murray, Utah. He graduated from Olympus High School in 1968. In late 1974, he moved back to his beloved Southern Utah where he took up residence in Hurricane, Utah.
He spent most of his working years as a brick mason working with his brother Earl Bud Barney. These were some of the happiest years of his life. After he could no longer work construction, due to health conditions, he found his passion in wood working. He particularly enjoyed clock making in his home shop. He was a talented craftsman.
He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather of 10. He loved to spend time with his family. He had a passion for riding motorcycles, hunting and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Barney of Hurricane, Utah; his son, Jarred I. Barney (Shelly) of Hurricane, Utah; his daughters: Sarah L. Heinz (Darrin) of Santa Clara, Utah, Jonnie Barney of Leeds, Utah, and Jessie J. Neal (Shawn) of Salem, Oregon.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother James L. Barney
- Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, at 2 p.m. in the Spilsbury Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 25 North 2000 West, Hurricane, Utah.
- Viewings will be Friday, March 20, from 5-7 p.m. in the Spilsbury Hurricane Valley Mortuary and on Saturday, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to services.
- Interment will be in the Hurricane City Cemetery.
