ST. GEORGE – St. George Police officers were busy with a cluster of collisions in the early morning hours Thursday as they responded to two separate rollovers, which resulted in two men being transported to the hospital for treatment of the injuries they sustained.
Drowsy driving
The first rollover occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. near 2200 East and 1450 South in St. George.
A 23-year-old woman, driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck, was traveling east on 1450 South when she drifted off the road, causing the Ford truck to flip onto its side, according to a press statement by the St. George Police Department issued Thursday.
The driver of the Ford truck walked away from the collision and was uninjured, according to the statement.
“It is believed the driver was fatigued which contributed to the cause of this accident,” the Police Department said.
The driver was issued a citation for improper lane travel.
Suspected DUI
The second rollover occurred at approximately 5 a.m. near 270 E. Riverside Dr.
The driver, a 47-year-old man, and his 31-year-old male passenger, were traveling north on 270 East, according to the statement, when the Chevrolet Blazer they were traveling in drifted off the road and rolled.
Both men were transported to the hospital by ambulance in stable condition.
“It is believed that alcohol and speed were factors in this accident,” the department said.
The driver was issued a citation for improper lane travel and driving under the influence, according to the statement.
