HURRICANE – The house fire near 600 North and 200 West in Hurricane is contained. Fire crews are still at the scene mopping up hotspots. There have been no injuries in connection to the fire.
One house and one vehicle are reportedly a total loss as of 2:55 p.m. Wednesday.
The fire reportedly started in the garage of the home and spread to the attic, later spreading to a neighboring home to the north. Initial reports about the fire were called in to the St. George Communications Center at 1:42 p.m. Wednesday.
The residents of the home were safely evacuated, according to dispatch reports, and the fire in the neighboring home has since been contained. Crews continue fighting the original fire.
Though the fire is in close proximity to Hurricane Middle School, it has not interrupted the regular school day, Washington County School District Superintendent Larry Bergeson said. School buses are running normally from Hurricane Middle, though parents picking up their students may need to take alternate streets to get to the school, he said. Students may be able to walk to to the bottom of the road to be picked up by their parents there, a Hurricane Middle School employee said.

were they cooking meth in the garage?
I wondered the same thing about the fire in LaVerkin…
Sure hope they have meth lab coverage
looks like fire department has a perfect record of never losing a foundation or basement yet.
Ooh, I need more information about what caused the fire. Is this a “dang tweekers” moment?
Should of had a job driving a cab then they couldn’t of been home to start a fire
