WASHINGTON COUNTY – A two-vehicle collision has had traffic crawling on northbound Interstate 15 in Washington County Monday evening, and traffic continues to be heavily congested as of 6:20 p.m. as the accident is cleared by Utah Highway Patrol responders.
At about 4:45 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred near I-15 Exit 40 in the midst of heavy holiday traffic. No injuries resulted from the collision, UHP Trooper Jared Cornia said, but one northbound lane was blocked off, and traffic was backed up for miles on northbound I-15.
As of 6:10 p.m., troopers were close to having the scene cleared, Cornia said. Nevertheless, northbound traffic was still very congested as of 6:20 p.m.
At the time of this publication, Cornia said he did not know the cause of the collision or whether any citations had been issued, but both vehicles had to be removed from the scene by wrecker, he said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
