2-vehicle rear-end collision snarls traffic on Bluff Street;STGnews Videocast

ST. GEORGE — Already congested traffic was further backed up Thursday afternoon after a passenger car rear-ended an SUV on Bluff Street.

Just after 2 p.m., an SUV with three occupants, including a young child, was waiting in backed-up northbound traffic three-quarters of a mile from the 500 North and Bluff Street traffic light. The driver of a white passenger car, who was watching traffic in the rearview mirror while attempting to change lanes, did not notice the SUV stopped in front of him and hit it from behind, St. George Police Officer Jamison Hale said.

The white passenger car sustained severe front-end damage as a result of the collision and had to be towed from the scene. The SUV sustained minor back-end damage but was able to be driven from the scene.

No injuries were reported as a result of the accident, and the occupants of both vehicles refused medical attention.

The driver of the white passenger car was cited for following too close.

The St. George Fire Department, St. George Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene. Traffic within the left northbound lane was backed up to 200 N. Bluff St. while responders attended to the accident.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

You are 100% correct, hopefully one day people will realize the possible scam going on between the city and ambulance service.

Ah yes, watching from the rearview mirror because lookong ahead isn’t really that important. Lot’s wife did the same thing; didn’t work well for her either.
