ST.GEORGE— Traffic was backed up for a short time Saturday afternoon after two vehicles collided in the intersection of Red Hills Parkway and Skyline Drive in St. George.

At approximately 5 p.m., officers from the St. George Police Department responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Red Hills Parkway and Skyline Drive. The accident occurred when a newer model gray Cadillac attempted to turn left from Red Hills Parkway westbound onto Skyline Drive. An older model gray Ford pickup truck was traveling downhill, westbound, on Red Hills Parkway and was unable to stop before colliding with the Cadillac in the middle of the intersection.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene of the accident.

“Traffic was backed up for approximately 15 minutes as a result of traffic traveling eastbound on Red Hills Parkway being diverted onto Skyline Drive,” St.George Police Sgt Wade Johnson said. “Traffic traveling on Skyline Drive and turning eastbound on Red Hills Parkway was not affected.”

No citations have yet been issued in connection with the incident at the time of this publication, but the investigation is ongoing, Johnson said.

The drivers and occupants of both vehicles refused medical treatment and were not transported to the hospital by ambulance.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
