Shake, rattle, boom: Red Flag military exercises commence once again

ST. GEORGE – People in southwest Utah may once again experience loud booms and rumbles across the region as the U.S. Air Force and invited allied forces take part in Red Flag military training exercises. Called Red Flag, the combat trainings started Monday and continue though Feb. 13.

Red Flag is a realistic combat training exercise involving the air, space, and cyber forces of the United States and its allies. The exercise is hosted north of Las Vegas on the Nevada Test and Training Range –the U.S. Air Force’s premier military training area with more than 15,000 square miles of airspace and 2.9 million acres of land. With 1,900 possible targets, realistic threat systems and an opposing enemy force that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world, Nellis Air Force Base and the Nevada Test and Training Range are the home of a simulated battlefield, providing combat air forces with the ability to train to fight together in a peacetime environment, and to survive and win together.

The 414th Combat Training Squadron is responsible for executing Red Flag. The exercise is one out of a series of advanced training programs administered at Nellis Air Force Base and on the Nevada Test and Training Range by organizations assigned to the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center.

More than 125 aircraft are scheduled to depart Nellis twice a day and aircraft may remain in the air for up to five hours. Flying times are scheduled to accommodate other flying missions at Nellis Air Force Base and provide Red Flag participants with valuable training in planning and executing a wide-variety of combat missions.

Dang this will interfere with the bundy got arrested crowd as the bird watchers stand in the rain as the keystone pipeline comes up again while the SGPD respond to a traffic accident just as the Secret Service is turning the white house into a no drone zone. and at the same time they are still trying to figure out exactly what happened to the missing air in the Patriots football just as I received a email from the are you ready for Hillary campaign just as Sarah Palin is talking about becoming President as another bluff street project gets put into place as Obama attempts to become friends With Cuba while the price of coffee goes up and my dog is due for new tags.

I just want to say nice job on the new login. I can already see the diffrence I am sure we will still see a few trolls on here from time to time, but the disruptive ones crying out for attention will not want to login under their real name. And because of that the anything goes wildwest in your face just to tick you off kind of post, that attack or belittle others has all but stoped. Thank you nice job guys. All that was a very annoying distraction verging on the edge of hate speach at times. Making me (and others) not even want to login here because of the sheer stupidity that was being posted in the comments. Great job keep it up.

What are you talking about? No one has to log in with their real name. You just have to register an email address and a screen name, pretty much the same as before. My name is not Chris, and I did not have to enter my real name in the registration even though that is an option.
