ST. GEORGE – An improper U-turn on Main Street in St. George resulted in a scooter broadsiding a car Friday evening.

At about 5:35 p.m., in the stretch of Main Street between Tabernacle Street and St. George Boulevard, a northbound gray passenger car driven by a woman pulled over to the right and was waiting for traffic to pass so she could make a U-turn and pull into a parking spot in front of a business, St. George Police Officer Tyrell Bangerter said.

While the woman was making the U-turn, a scooter heading northbound hit the side of her car. The scooter driver, a man who appeared to be in his early 20s, was wearing a helmet and was uninjured in the crash aside from some scratches, Bangerter said.

K.C. Zeeman, who witnessed the accident, said he checked on the scooter rider and he appeared to be fine, though he was complaining about his ankle at the time.

Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene but did not ultimately take anyone to the hospital, as those involved in the incident declined medical transport.

The driver of the car was cited for making an improper U-turn, while the scooter rider was cited for license and registration violations.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
