WASHINGTON, D.C.—Rep. Chris Stewart was sworn in to the 114th Congress as Utah’s 2nd District Congressman on Tuesday. Now in his second term, Stewart will continue to serve on the powerful House Appropriations Committee.
“In this new Congress, I am optimistic that we’ll be able to move beyond the partisan gridlock which has weighed down Washington for far too long,” Stewart said. “With Republicans now controlling both chambers of Congress, I’m looking forward to reaffirming our constitutionally limited government where Congress, not the president, writes law and establishes national spending priorities.”
“We now have a historic opportunity to set a conservative national agenda,” Stewart said. “I hope we’ll use this opportunity to pass pro-business policies which spur our economy, reduce government regulations, reform our tax code, decrease our debt and spending, and improve our broken healthcare system.”
