HURRICANE – The St. George Communications Center received a call at approximately 12:56 p.m. Wednesday reporting a two-vehicle accident on state Route 9 in Hurricane.
A silver 2008 Honda Element, driven by a man, was heading eastbound and stopped at a red light at the intersection of state Route 9 and Old Highway 91. A silver 2002 Hyundai Accent, driven by a woman, was following too closely and rear-ended the Element, Hurricane City Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said. Traffic in the eastbound left lane was backed up for nearly 45 minutes.
“There was a woman and a child in the Element, but fortunately, there were no injuries in this accident,” Buell said. “The woman driving the Hyundai was issued a citation for following too close. Only the Hyundai Accent was towed from the accident.”
The front end of the Hyundai was smashed in when it hit the back of the other vehicle. Hurricane City Police officers cleared the accident as quickly as they could, Buell said, and met both drivers at a nearby gas station to sort out the incident and issue a citation to the Hyundai driver.
The Hurricane Fire Department and Hurricane City Police Department responded to the accident.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Just speculating– Do you think there was a ‘applying lipstick’ for the non attentive reason?
I was leaving the DMV and I was at the light to go left and my light turned green and I made my turn. Lo and behold a sheriff ends up in back of me…I looked in my rear view mirror and his lights turned on. Oh snap, my hearts racing, I’m getting pulled over. So I move to the right lane and he continued forward ( I wasn’t even doing anything wrong, but relief came upon me, my heart rate went down) and then I came upon the accident on the other side of the road…. Merry Christmas!
so funny been there done that.. ugh… glad you were ticket free and glad no one was hurt in the accident.. merry christmas to you too!
I’m not going to assume or speculate anything I will wait for the facts to come out. I’m just glad no one was seriously hurt. And I’m not assuming that.. It’s reported that no was seriously hurt. They are home with their families enjoying the holiday and thats what important…
