ST. GEORGE – One woman was transported to the hospital Monday following a two-vehicle collision on Snow Canyon Parkway.
Just after 11 a.m., a woman in her late 70s, driving a Chrysler Town & Country van, was stopped at a stop sign heading northbound on 1400 West and then proceeded to cross Snow Canyon Parkway, St. George Police Officer Jamison Hale said. While she was crossing the intersection, a woman in her early 40s, driving a gold Toyota Camry, traveling eastbound on Snow Canyon Parkway, struck the rear of the van.
The woman driving the van said she looked both ways before attempting to cross the street, Hale said. However, multiple witnesses to the crash confirmed that the van driver did not yield to the Camry, he said.
“So, it’s pretty cut-and-dry that she failed to yield to oncoming traffic when she tried to cross the intersection,” Hale said.
The airbags in the Camry were deployed and the driver was transported via Gold Cross Ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Hale said. Her condition at the time this report is published is unknown, he said.
The woman driving the van was issued a citation for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, Hale said.
Traffic on each side of Snow Canyon Parkway was directed into one lane, he said, but was still able to flow and not become backed up.
The St. George Fire Department also responded to assist with the clean-up efforts. By, 11:45 a.m., the scene was clear and traffic was able to flow freely.

I think it’s Kindergarten where they teach you to look left, Right, then left again before you cross the street. Even more so when you are driving because a car might be blocked by your A-Pillar.
Always double check before you pull out into traffic.
This is not rocket science people.
Well it is for some people
No it is St George, Utah.
Yes, they do teach to look right and left before crossing at an early age. But this woman is 70 and has probably lost her cat-like reflexes over the years. That is a crazy intersection with a curve and folks going way too fast both east and west bound. It’s like a crap shoot getting across that intersection.
