Detectives initiated a traffic stop at 100 East Red Hills Parkway in St. George on a vehicle equipment violation for a broken brake light lens and a burnt out rear license plate light, Washington County Drug Task Force Detective Chad Pectol said in his probable cause statements supporting the arrests.

When detectives spoke with the driver, who identified himself as Johnnie J. Huddleston Jr., they smelled an odor of suspected marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, Pectol said in the statement.

Huddleston agreed to step out of the vehicle, Pectol said, and when asked about the smell, Huddleston told detectives a friend had smoked marijuana inside his car within the last two days.

Detectives searched Huddleston’s vehicle and located a distributable amount of methamphetamine inside the center console of the vehicle, along with a container of marijuana, the statement said.

“(Huddleston) was interviewed under Miranda and he said he did not know anything about the suspected illegal drugs found inside his vehicle,” Pectol said in the statement. “I placed (Huddleston) into custody. While searching his person, at least 13 small baggies were located inside his pants pocket. The baggies were a size that was consistent with the packaging used to sale illegal narcotics.”

Huddleston was arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility.

He was charged with one second-degree felony for drug possession with intent to distribute; two class B misdemeanors for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia; and one class C misdemeanor for operating an improperly equipped vehicle on a public roadway. His bail is set at $11,410.

Huddleston made his initial appearance in 5th District Court on Dec. 19, according to court documents, where Judge G. Michael Westfall determined Huddleston to be indigent and appointed Douglas D. Terry as his counsel. He is scheduled to make his next court appearance Dec. 29.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

LADYBUGAVENGER: You would think that being the mother of a meth addict you would make you more compassionate for this situation apposed to hateful and condescending. This young man is my little brother, he is not “ready to snap,” he is instead scared. And yes, pissed off at himself for being caught up in doing the wrong thing and it will now cost him time away from our family – especially during the holiday season – when we all want to be together most. He’s a good, decent human being who made a mistake. Just like your son. Try some compassion for those who love this boy, instead of spewing out negativity as it does not make this situation any better, or make anyone feel better. Merry Christmas, and enjoy your holiday with your family.

I said looks ready to snap….keep your little brother away from my family and other peoples children. Thanks, and inform him that his drugs that he sells to other little brothers and little sisters ruins lives. I wouldn’t call it a mistake, I would call it addicted to meth. The devils middle name crystal meth.. My comment was not hateful or condescending. Merry Christmas

Tell him to stay away from your family? You say that as if your family does not have free will – telling people and being against drugs does not make your family immune to it – obviously… My brother is well aware of his actions and the problems that can arise from such. But, you need to take a step back. You have no idea, beyond this small news article, what also went on, who was involved in addition to him. And, yes, it was a mistake. You have no idea if he ever provided this drug to anyone. You have not a clue in the world. So, stop assuming. You look like a blithering idiot.

I know exactly what goes on in the world of meth. You probably wouldn’t want me to be your mom…God bless you and your family… Merry Christmas

      • ladybugavenger December 22, 2014 at 10:58 am

And mistake is a word that overused to justify a behavior or act…just own it and grow from it and move on. But the word mistake is not ownership of a behavior or act. Meth is the devils drug. It will take a person to a dark place. So, your brother should have shame one day for providing this drug to others and then maybe one day he will make a great advocate for someone and help them get through their dark place. I was neither hating your brother or putting him down but I do hate meth! I hate what it does to people’s lives, they lose everything. Merry Christmas

This breaks my heart. Drugs and Porn are the eater’s of children in this generation. It sucks this stuff has to happen. I know his family and my heart goes out to them. Hopefully this kind of thing will help keep more and more drugs off the street.

That explains why the city needs an extremely anti-dance ordinance in place, to prevent youth and adults from socializing and enjoying the healthy and fun activity of dancing, just because some old prudes with their stuck corn cobs thinks anything other than church garbage is bad. They just blame everyone else when their church kids take drugs and watch porn. Isn’t is amazing, though, how the city and the dance buster police swat force is keeping your city clean of the healthy and fun activity of dancing? Amazing!
