The BLM is going to do just what they please in this matter. Just like they do with other things. I consider these public hearings to be nothing more than a poor attempt to give the appearance of fairness. They need to be able to justify themselves by saying “but we had a public hearing!” I had the experience once of being the parent representative on a school committee that was making controversial decisions about my child’s school. I quickly realized and was told in so many words “do you think your views really matter to us?” I resigned from the committee and I told the officials ” I won’t let you use me to give the appearance to other parents that their views are really being considered.” These people are are only playing the appease the stupid public game with these hearings.
