Lake, Kurtis Obit2(February 7, 1962 – December 12, 2014

Kurtis Bruce Lake, age 52, passed away December 12, 2014, due to health complications at the Dixie Regional Medical Center, St. George, Utah.

He was born February 7, 1962, in Ely, Nevada, to Keith Garrity and Nevada Hyland Roberts Lake. He married Annette Gubler on October 18, 1986. They later divorced.

Kurtis grew up in Cedar City. He left Cedar City at the age of 18 to run the Paddle Wheeler at Lake Powell. He served in the Santa Clara Fire Department for 24 years; 17 of which he served as Captain. He was the owner and operator of Lake’s Klip and Kare Yard Service for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Elks for 26 years. Kurtis was a member the LDS Church.

He loved to four-wheel, go to Lake Powell and travel to many locations.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Annette Lake; daughter Krystle Marrie Lake; brothers, Kerry (Velda) Lake and Korry Lake; aunts, Mary Ellen Rudy and Jeanette Sproule; stepfather, Haymer Morris and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Nevada Lake; son, Kameron Keith Lake and three nephews.

Funeral Services

  • Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George.
  • Viewings will be on Friday, Dec. 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to services.
  • Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the family towards funeral costs.
