Police received a call about 4 p.m. that a car had been spotted in a ditch with nobody inside it. When police found the car, there was some blood visible, so they set out on foot in search of the driver. Forty minutes later, they found Enos Jack Grayman drunk near the Ivins reservoir.

“He had a flat tire and ran into a ditch. The accident was called in by a citizen,” Santa Clara-Ivins Police Officer Chad Holt said.

Grayman was arrested without incident and charged with several offenses, including leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence and failure to report an accident. He is currently being held for 72 hours at the Washington Purgatory Correctional Facility.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Now comes the big question. Ready? Will he get more charges and penalties against him and a heftier jail than did that drunk cop (3X over the limit) who was carrying a weapon and had three kids in the police vehicle when he wrecked it? Was that cop held for 72 hours? Where is the fairness in justice?

So… If I accidentally run my car into a ditch, and walk off to find help, or just to calm down, (No one else is around) – I can be arrested for leaving the scene? This sounds like quite the stretch. Call the police to help and they arrest you. I’ll be sure to call them next time I’m in trouble 🙂 They’ll probably arrest me for the “assault knife” and various tools I carry in my work truck.
