Tucker Cowdin, Pano Tia Tia named co-MVPs in 3AA South

ST. GEORGE — With Desert Hills and Pine View tying for the 3AA South crown, it only makes sense that each team would have an MVP and that’s precisely the case as the coaches all-region team was announced Thursday evening.

    Disclosure – I’m a DHHS guy.

Who in the hello voted Bret Barben Hon Men? What games were you watching this year? He was the best WR hands down! Best routes and best hands! Holy Cow you people missed the boat on that! Congrats Tucker! Intense competitor!

I can’t believe that Tre Miller didn’t make first team for Dixie. Stud of the week every week but two. 22 touchdowns including key touchdowns in the Stansbary game and the state final game. Somebody sure missed the boat.

@BOREC – His own coach placed him there since he is the one that names his 1st ,2nd and HM teams for Dixie.

  • Vaasa December 5, 2014 at 9:10 am

Also, based off of which place you were in the Region determined how many slots you have for all three teams. Sometimes the coaches want to get there Sr’s their due before the underclassmen.

  • Vaasa December 5, 2014 at 9:30 am

@Borec – Do you have a kid on the team there at DHHS? Or just a follower of the team?

    • BOREC December 5, 2014 at 10:15 am

I understand that 4th place in Region gives the coach four spots to name his 1st team and so forth. I’m still saying, based upon what I say in person and on film, Barben was the best WR in 3AA South. He had 1 catch against us, just like the little squirt at Costco High. Barben was #1 threat WR in our defensive game plan.
I’m not just a fan at DHHS.

I just reviewed the stats on team members at MaxPreps.com, and am totally at a loss on how Jaden Harrison made first team over Tre Miller!!! Jaden didn’t even come close to what Tre achieved. I’m not trying to bring down any player, they all need each other to achieve, but lets be honest, look at the stats and you figure out what is going on here. I feel that something is very dishonest here. Somebody paying someone off, or even worse, I don’t really want to think about it, racist?? I can’t understand after looking at the stats how it could be anything else!!!

Really? You clearly do not play nor coach football, let alone any sport. What an absurd ascertation to a kid being left off a coach’s ballot. Not only is Blaine the best coach in 3AA South, he is beyond reproach as a person. Only a moron could hypothecate that therory of yours.

You haven’t figured out the favors for friends and who’s a good ole boy game? Shoot boy, who ya been a votin for, your buddy or church guy or the person most capable for the position? I remind ya all, you is in Utah, now, ya hear. Dixie Utah.

yes sir, we sure is in dixie now isn’t we

  • Payaso December 9, 2014 at 11:04 am

You can tell we are in Dixie because grown men are whining about a high school all region team.
    1. Jaden Harrison played almost every snap for the Flyers making numerous key defensive stops he is as deserving of this honor as any other player.
    2. Tre Miller is a incredible football player and will certainly receive his due I am sure in a more meaningful way than some all region team.
    3. Dixie only had 4 choices for the team and their four choices were deserving choices, Barben and Miller could of just as well of been on the list, the ones that made it were also deserving.
    4. Blaine Monkres is above reproach especially from people that use max preps for their argument.
    5. Bringing something as ugly as racism into a conversation of this nature when our country is in turmoil is ignorant.
    6. WHO ARE YOU that you know more about the value of certain players on a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP team than their own coach?????

    • Koolaid December 9, 2014 at 12:11 pm

Ask their bishops who is most deserving of recognition.

    • BOREC December 10, 2014 at 3:46 am

No Maxpreps needed to know Blaine is beyond reproach as a person. Personal experience.

  • MrCritical December 9, 2014 at 3:21 pm

I found this argument to be very interesting, so I took the invitation from Mr. Dayley and look at the stats. I can understand how Mr Dayley fills the way he does. I don’t agree with some of his comments about whoever pick the 1st team. Looking at the stats one does really have to wonder how Jaden was chosen over Tre MIller. It is quite obvious that Jaden didn’t come close to the accomplishments of Tre Miller. Say what ever you want, but that is a fact!!!

  • BOREC December 10, 2014 at 3:43 am

In my less than humble opinion, Des News got it right with Barben. Not sure why Wilgar was not on 1st team. The Dixie defense was a completely different/better group when Wilgar was back from injury. Great FS! No question Ammon was the best this year!

  • Mean Momma December 10, 2014 at 6:28 pm

So many players are deserving of.this honor on Dixie’s football squad, it is a shame they can’t all be on there. Congrats to those who made the cut!
