Shirley Deon Houston passed away December 2, 2014, in Ivins, Utah. She was born to Elsworth Hanson and Vera Harkness on June 12, 1929. She married Samuel Dean Houston on June 3, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; mom, Florence Hansen; son, David R.; and brother, Darl Hansen. Shirley loved horses, her dogs, enjoyed camping with grandchildren and son Sam, and shopping with friends Michael and Sharie.
She is survived by her son, Samuel D. Houston; grandchildren: Troy Houston (Amy), Paul (Liz), Cameron (Amanda), Samuel III (Denise) and step-grandchildren, Heidi Maynard (Troy), Justin Patterson and Amy Richards (Ron); 19 (almost 20) great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services
- Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Santa Clara City Cemetery.
- A family visitation will be held on Saturday, at noon, prior to services at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah.
