ST. GEORGE – Failure to yield to oncoming traffic Wednesday evening triggered a crash at 700 East and Tabernacle, temporarily shutting down part of the intersection.
Around 5:35 p.m., a white Mercury Grand Marquis, traveling eastbound on Tabernacle Street, had stopped at the 700 East intersection, then proceeded to make a left-hand turn heading north. While turning onto 700 East, the Mercury collided with a Jaguar traveling southbound on 700 East, St. George Police Sgt. Rich Triplett said.
The drivers and passengers involved in the accident were unharmed but both cars had to be towed from the scene, Triplett said.
A portion of the intersection and 700 East were blocked off by responders working to investigate, and ultimately, clear the scene.
Responding parties included St. George Police and the St. George Fire Department.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Confused. One car was “traveling eastbound on Tabernacle” and the other was traveling “southbound on Tabernacle”? The streets here are confusing, but this just doesn’t sound right…
When you have people like twin the twit driving it all makes sense
What do those four letters mean on that big red octagon shape on the pole to the left of the picture? S – T – O – P. Must be something written in a foreign language, because Dixie Drivers can’t seem to read it or comprehend its meaning.
Marquis was eastbound on Tabernacle, stopped, then turned left onto 700 (now northbound) as Jaguar was going south on 700 (not Tabernacle). Marquis driver did not see Jaguar coming, apparently. Could be many contributing factors.
Funny thing is – most of the drivers here move around like maniacs on drugs. Where are the citations for them, St. George police department? It’s sad that they always fault the one who’s turning. I’ve had my share of close calls when cars have sped up even faster trying to hit me while making a left turn.
