OPINION – If only St. George had a luxurious escape nearby that offered award-winning spa treatments and world class cuisine.
Oh wait … it does! Red Mountain Resort in Ivins, Utah is the ultimate pampering destination for your mind, body, and stomach. The best part? You don’t have to be an overnight guest in order to be their guest. All of the daytime spa, shop, and dining services at the resort are also available to locals. And while that may be common knowledge to some, I can guarantee that you don’t know just how much this illustrious getaway has to offer.
Let’s start with the Sagestone Spa and Salon. This three-story dome-shaped facility is home to over 50 custom spa treatments. Many of the treatments even highlight native ingredients through the use of local desert botanicals, honey, and healing mud, salt, and clay.
The average client at Sagestone prefers the signature customized massage, so I suggest trying the “diva for a day” package ($199) which includes the customized massage, any facial, a pedicure, and lunch at the restaurant on-site. Did I mention there are over 15 different facials to choose from? Whatever you choose, be prepared for some next level close-your-eyes tranquility.
Sagestone also has customized gentleman packages and treatments for all the real men out there that like to get pampered too.
If you’re looking to unwind through something more adventurous – Red Mountain also offers several outdoor group excursions including: Tai Chi on the rocks of Snow Canyon ($35 per person), Red Mountain yoga ($25 per person), horseback riding through Snow Canyon ($90 per person), and many more. You can even relax by the pool with your closest friends for an hour and receive calming hand massages while enjoying refreshing smoothies for only $15 per person.
While every treatment and activity is sure to be a memorable experience worth repeating, it’s the little luxury touches at Sagestone that combine to set the perfect scene. Just imagine yourself wrapped up in a cozy robe on an oversized lounge chair, sipping soothing hot tea in a hushed relaxation room – all while overlooking the gleaming red rock scenery through a giant glass window.
You’ll find yourself thinking, “It doesn’t get better than this.” And it really doesn’t. Well, until you enjoy your first meal at Red Mountain’s very own Canyon Breeze Restaurant.
Serving healthy menu options 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – Canyon Breeze is about as good as it gets. Breakfast and lunch are served through a lavish buffet, while dinner offers a three-course fine dining experience that you’ll never forget. The entrées change daily to ensure you always indulge in the freshest ingredients of the season.
The menu caters to all customers, providing gluten-free options, as well as anti-inflammatory dishes that help reduce pain and chronic illness. Those with food allergies or special diets can also be accommodated.
Perhaps the icing on the (organic) cake is the fact that Chad Luethje has returned as executive chef. Honestly, having the pleasure of trying any of Luethje’s culinary masterpieces should be added to your bucket list. With over 25 years of experience at high-end luxury resorts, Luethje has become a prestigious award-winning chef that we are lucky to have back in our own backyard.
You’ll discover why once you take your first bite of grilled wild Alaskan sockeye salmon or pan seared duck. For an extra fun-filled evening, go on the weekends and admire the live entertainment. Dinner reservations are always required, so be sure to call ahead.
Thanksgiving Day brunch will also be served at Canyon Breeze if you are looking to enjoy this year’s festive feast at a five star worthy destination.
Don’t ever leave the resort without stepping inside Red Mountain Outfitters store. This boutique is a hidden treasure that sells brand name workout apparel, hiking shoes, hydration packs, eclectic eyewear, and souvenir gifts.
You can even book a personalized shoe fitting with the store manager to find the perfect pair that best suits your adventure style. Locals also receive a 20 percent discount on all full priced store items, making window shopping here an even more enticing errand.
All things combined, Red Mountain Resort is truly extraordinary. So next time you’re dreaming about your next vacation, just remember you don’t need to travel far.
After all, there’s no place like home.

A good place for rich, fat people to be relieved of their money. I once knew a couple of employees of this “fat farm.” NO WAY would I be interested.
@MET amazing you knew somebody that worked there. Maybe you should have written the article. Nice to know you have other places to spend your money, and nice for this business that other people like to spend their money there. Perhaps you are a little envious of the rich and fat.
WOW, Sticks and Stones thrown by a toothless Fairy. Is anyone really interested in Evil Twin’s opinion? Nah.
Bet they turned you down when you applied for a job wearing the latest transgender lip stick. Right?
… not me
Ed. ellipsis.
I heard you held a Who loves you party and you were the only one that showed up
GOOD! More cake and ice cream for ME that way! :p
Oink!
Wow this is a very nice article. Top rate. This is better than some of the National & International coverage that they receive. Good job Ali!
My evil twin. Boo hoo. Nothing good going on in your life? You are probably setting at home in your Jammie’s on your mothers couch right?
Ooooooh…I love Red Mountain. We go every once in a while, like after we run a marathon or something, to just unwind and have some good healthy food. It is fantastic! The staff always treats us really well too.
I go there all the all the time and meanwhile stupid twins sits in his mother’s basement whining about all the good we do because stupid twins has no life
You do good what? Sounds like maybe you are one of the employes there now? Nah, they don’t hire 14 year olds. . .
Hmmm you once knew a couple employees that worked at the “fat farm”? How many years ago was that, considering that it hasn’t been a fat farm for about 15 years now? If you have driven, walked or ridden by in the past few years, you’ve no doubt noticed the happy, fit folks enjoying their time in and around the resort. This place is a hidden gem in southern Utah- a world class getaway in our backyards at pretty reasonable prices. The spa is awesome, the food is delicious and the employees always seem so happy and friendly
15 Years? Oh my, how time flies. Yeah, it might have been that long ago, but I doubt it.
Just wondering….is ballroom dancing allowed there?
Or any dancing for that matter….
