Task force serves search warrant, nabs duo for variety of drugs

WASHINGTON CITY – The Washington County Drug Task Force arrested a man and a woman Tuesday for felony possession of a variety of drugs.

Task force agents served a narcotics search warrant on a residence on Bulloch Street in Washington. The garage area of the residence had been converted into a living space, occupied by 24-year-old Patricia Diane Kerby, task force Detective Ty Dove said in his probable cause statement supporting Kerby’s arrest.

The door to the converted room was locked with a deadbolt and had to be forced open from the kitchen area, task force Detective J. Jessop said in a probable cause statement supporting the arrest of Brycen Kay Millett, 24, of St. George. When detectives forced the door open, Kerby and Millett were discovered inside.

Inside the space, detectives found methamphetamine, heroin, Suboxone, alprazolam and a scale, which Kerby admitted belonged to her, Dove said in the statement.

A container with suspected drug items, including cotton swabs, a lighter, a spoon and syringes, as well as a small amount of heroin, was also found in the room and located in close proximity to Millett, Jessop said in the statement.

Kerby was arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility on two second-degree felony charges for drug possession and three class A misdemeanor charges for drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail is set at $25,850.

Millett was also arrested and booked on a second-degree felony charge for drug possession and a class A misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail is set at $11,940.

Charges were enhanced for both Kerby and Millett because they were arrested 1,000 feet from the Washington City Community Center Daycare, a drug-free zone.

The two made their initial court appearances Thursday and are scheduled to make their next court appearances Nov. 10.

Since 2011, Kerby has been amassing a list of criminal charges in Utah, according to Utah state court records. She was convicted of drug possession in 2011, assault and criminal mischief in 2012, and theft in 2014.

This was not Millett’s first run-in with the law either. He was arrested in 2012 for drug possession, according to court records, but those charges were dismissed.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
