CEDAR CITY — Authorities in Cedar City have arrested a suspect and released more information in the apparent homicide giving rise to investigation Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officers from the Cedar City Police Department responded to a home at the 100 East block of 575 North in Cedar City on a suspected homicide.
According to a press release from the department, once on scene, police found 45-year-old Shawn Leroy Multine dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Eyewitnesses to the event positively identified Angelo Seth Carrasco of Cedar City as the shooter in the homicide, the department’s statement said.
Carrasco allegedly physically assaulted an adult woman as he was coming through the door of the residence. After shooting Multine with a rifle, Carrasco then pointed the gun at another adult male resident of the house while threatening to kill him and chasing him through the house.
Carrasco fled the residence with the rifle used in the shooting, Cedar City Police Sgt. Jimmy Roden said.
Cedar City Police, Utah Highway Patrol, Southern Utah University Police Department and Iron County Sheriff’s Office all assisted in attempting to locate Carrasco.
“The Iron Metro Swat Team was paged but was canceled,” Roden said.
Approximately 30 minutes after Carrasco fled, an adult woman claiming to be with Carrasco contacted authorities by phone. According to the department’s release, the woman informed the officers both she and Carrasco were at the KB Express gas station on 734 S Main in Cedar City. Cedar City Police responded to the gas station and took Carrasco into custody without any further incident.
The Cedar City Crime Scene Unit investigated a blue Toyota that Carrasco was found inside of at the time of his arrest, Roden said. It is not known at this time if the vehicle belongs to him.
During his questioning, Carrasco admitted to authorities that he had fatally shot Multine, the release said. The relationship between Carrasco and Multine is still under investigation.
The woman found with Carrasco at the time of his arrest was interviewed by authorities and released. At this time, authorities are not commenting on her relationship with Carrasco, Roden said.
Angelo Seth Carrasco was booked into the Iron County Correctional Facility and charged with three first-degree felonies for murder, aggravated assault and aggravated burglary.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Another upstanding citizen. That now tax dollars get to pay to take “care” of. I wonder if drugs had anything to do with this? Your not supposed to profile or judge, but these thugs make it pretty hard not to.
