KANAB — Dixie State University and the Center for Education, Business and the Arts will present the 6th annual Business of Art Seminar on Nov. 7-8 at Kanab Middle School in Kanab.
Created in 2009, the annual seminar’s purpose is to assist artists and aspiring artists from Utah, northern Arizona and southern Nevada in enhancing their business skills.
This year’s seminar will feature a pair of keynote addresses delivered by renowned bronze sculptor Annette Everett and journalist Brian Passey.
Passey, an arts and entertainment reporter who delivers travel and outdoors columns in The Spectrum and St. George Magazine, takes his readers to a myriad of locales with stories and vivid photography. Passey will discuss how social media has changed the face of marketing for artists and galleries in his presentation on Nov. 7 entitled “Instagram: The Visual Social Network.”
Everett will deliver the keynote Nov. 8, entitled, “From Beginning to End: Creating and Living with Art That You Love,” which will focus on the entire process of creating art, from inspiration to presentation and everything in between. Everett, who founded Brushworks Fine Art Studio & Gallery in 1997, works in clay, both oil-based and water-based, to create figurative bronze and fired clay pieces. Most of her work is figurative and representational with an emphasis on spiritual themes.
