RED STORM
dsulogoHead coach: Scott Brumfield (5th year, 10-38 overall)
Offense: Pro Set
Defense: Pro 4-3
Last Game: Lost to Simon Fraser University 29-19
Players to watch: Quarterback Ben Longshore played the entire game for the first time last week. The offense seemed unrecognizable without the dual running threat at quarterback. Hayden Gavett may return to platoon once again with Longshore. The effectiveness of running backs Myles Burton and Joel Davis are directly tied to the quarterback. Tight end Dalton Groskreutz had a turnover last week that was returned for a touchdown, but is still a bright spot. Nate Stephens led the team in receptions last week. On defense, the Red Storm are led in tackles by safety Aeryus Holloway (34). Defensive lineman Jake Miller leads the team in sacks (4), quarterback hurries (5) and tackles for loss (9.5). The Red Storm lost cornerback Jacob Witham, the team leader in interceptions, against SFU. Zac Christian joins Holloway in the secondary. Linebackers Robert Metz and Garland Munns have 31 and 27 tackles respectively.

WOLVES
rp_primary_WOU_Shield_WebHead Coach: Arne Ferguson (10th year, 60-42)
Offense: Multiple one-back
Defense: 4-3
Last Game: Lost to then #5-ranked University of North Alabama, 30-10
Players to watch: Quarterback Ryan Bergman leads the conference in passing (309 yards per game). His favorite targets are receivers Paul Revis (28/491) and Tyrell Williams (24/333). Revis also leads the conference in average total yardage per game (203) Running back Joe Harris leads the Wolves in rushing. The Clan is led defensively by defensive end Kraig Akins who has 42 tackles. He is followed by linebackers Shane Kuenzi (37) and Tyler Johnson (33). The secondary is led by defensive back Roger Garrett.

GAME OUTLOOK
Western Oregon sits right now at 2-3 with wins over Central Washington and Simon Fraser. Bergman leads a highly potent offense. Despite the loss, the Dixie defense was a bright spot last week. They will need to step up this week. Big time. Stop the pass. Stop the pass. Stop the pass. WOU will throw it all day long. WOU will try to outscore you, which they have done in the recent past against Dixie, outscoring the Red Storm last year 97-66 in two games. DSU has a lot of injuries in its secondary. If the next men up cannot hold the Wolves’ passing attack it may be a long day for the Red Storm
