Park City wins 3A golf title, Dixie 2nd as Region 9 teams finish 2-3-4-5

ST. GEORGE — Mitchell Schow won the 3A State Golf Tournament with an amazing 142 over two-days and his Park City teammates backed him up by placing second, third and fifth as the Miners cruised to a 37-shot victory at Sunbrook Golf Course Thursday.

Schow fired a 69 Wednesday, then followed that up with a 73 Thursday to beat teammate Drew Fleming by three shots. Fleming shot 71 and 74 to stay close to Schow. Another Park City golfer, Jalen Roberts, shot 74-72 to finish just one shot back of Fleming.

Dixie High’s Taylor Yardley was the top finisher from southern Utah. He went 72-75 and his 147 was just five shots off of Schow’s winning total and one shot behind Roberts for third place.

Park City’s Collin Steele and Tooele’s Braxton Quinn tied for fifth at 149. Taylor Cummings of Desert Hills tied for seventh with a 150 total, matching Pine View’s Dray Matthews.

Park City easily won with a team 582, but it was a battle for the other placings. Dixie took second with a team total of 619. Desert Hills came in third at 621, Pine View finished fourth with a 628 total and Snow Canyon brought home fifth with a 635.
