SUU’s Art Insights hosts illustrator, painter, designer Dan Christofferson

CEDAR CITY — Southern Utah University’s Department of Art & Design’s weekly series, Art Insights, is pleased to present Dan Christofferson, a gifted visual artist who will share his experience and perspectives with students at the Gilbert Great Hall of SUU’s Hunter Conference Center on Thursday at 7 p.m. Admission is free and the general public is invited to attend.

With his bold vision and use of regional symbols in his art, Christofferson has created unique images that tell stories. Christofferson is an illustrator, painter, designer and Big Cartel’s community director from Salt Lake City, Utah. Dan uses symbols from Utah history and life in the west to tell amazing stories that may all just end up being lies. Dan bounces back and forth from crisp, digital illustration, to arcane portraits hand-painted on panel.  His work has been featured at various exhibitions held at university and local galleries throughout northern Utah, resulting in Christofferson winning numerous illustration awards. For an extensive overview of his art, visit his website, Bee Teeth.

Art Insights is a weekly program hosted during the fall and spring semesters by SUU’s Art and Design faculty. Students and community members meet to experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights and attend gallery openings. Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend. This installment of Art Insights is a perfect opportunity for southern Utah artists and residents to learn from a unique artist that is actively immersed in our beautiful, intermountain landscape.
