PAROWAN — Traffic was slowed on Interstate 15 near mile marker 75 in Parowan Thursday evening when a truck pulling a flatbed trailer full of bricks lost its load.
The Cedar Communications Center received a call about the incident at about 5:18 p.m. The trailer had been traveling northbound on I-15 and somehow got off the side of the road, dumping the load of bricks it was carrying into the median, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said.
UHP officers assisted the driver in loading his bricks back into the trailer, which took just over an hour.
One lane of traffic was blocked off while the brick spill was cleaned up. The closed lane added to the traffic congestion, but some backup was also due to drivers slowing down to take a look at the scene, Royce said.
“The inside lane was closed for a time because the truck was still in the lane,” Royce said, “but (officers) were able to detach the truck and move it out of the way.”
The driver of the truck was not issued a citation, Royce said. He was able to drive away from the scene with the trailer and bricks.
