Hard Freeze Warning issues for Washington, Iron, Beaver counties

SOUTHERN UTAH — The National Weather Service has issued a hard freeze warning for the Western Uinta Basin, Sanpete and Sevier Valleys, Southwest Utah, including the counties of Beaver, Iron and Washington in effect from 3-9 a.m. Thursday.

Temperatures will be falling into the lower 20s and can kill or damage sensitive plants.

The National Weather Service suggests the public take precautionary measures to protect their plants and vegetation, such as covering them or transporting them into a warmer location or shelter for the night.

  • Duchesne
  • Roosevelt
  • Manti
  • Richfield
  • Beaver
  • Milford
  • Cedar City

Timing

Temperatures will drop late Wednesday night and continue through Thursday morning.

    Where did the author get the picture of frozen palms in the hard freeze areas shown. The author is obviously not from Washington county. I detect a little sensationalism .

    Well, I did bring my potted Sago Palm inside. (St George) My Sago does not like the cold. I had Sago Palms on my property in Hawaii……they did very well there. Actually I had quite a variety of several types. Queen Palm, Alexander, Phoenix, Sago……..more

    What RETARD thinks this is in reference to St George? It CLEARLY lists the effected areas. Whoever thinks St George freezes the 2nd day of October CLEARLY has NO CLUE about this area. LOL

    HELLO IDIOTS!! If STG froze this early, I think we’d be in the ice age! You people are a riot! I’ve lived here many years and most years don’t see a freeze here in the lower desert areas until early December — after Thanksgiving. Read the article before making yourselves look stupid!
